India and gates and iron and steel work. Endlessly fascinating to me and responsible for eating up quite a lot of my camera memory. Every house in and around Mysore in India seems to have such interesting entrances. Like the titles of a book, they were the unique and creative titles of the property.
(Dreaming of lotus flower gates at home)
I found this delightful book. A reference book for gate designers and makers.

cor, that book is lovely. such a great red! are you going to be incorporating gates into your next project, you should, you should, you should!
Ooh how fabulous! I love the second gate - with the lotus flower, also the last one with all the squares - was it a screen?
Fancy finding a book of gate designs - what a find!
Dear Gorgeous Girls
Great minds think alike!
Yes, I feel a gates project coming on...it's still in the thinking stage though because I would like to merge it with all the 'opening' that happens when India gets to you!
Maybe that's why I was so drawn to them & I've got lots of images of them to upload to Flickr...
Stand by for gates aplenty.
Lizzie, yes it was a screen at a nursery school!

So beautiful. I agree that the poor reproduction quality adds to romance.
Lovely to see Mysore through your eyes. You picked up much that I passed right over without seeing.
divine and casting such a beautiful shadow:
far prettier than my garage door and front doors obsession:
think I would like one of those pages as a framed print:
but then I'm odd too ^_*
This is lovely! Such a cracking idea for a project, I've no doubt you'll do something brill. What about screen printing designs onto something that actually opens, like envelopes? Or origami boxes?
Hi Louise,
I love the gates book-I would have bought that too! I always look at gates in this country and mean to take pictures as there is such variety. I took a lot in the snow last year! I have not seen lotus blossom ones anywhere though-they are lovely!
good find!!!! you could make ace stamps based on these!
It was lovely to meet you too. I really enjoyed your class!
