"For now she need not think about anybody. She could be herself, by herself.
And that was what now she often felt the need of - to think; well, not even to think.
To be silent, to be alone.

All the being and the doing, expansive, glittering, vocal, evaporated; and one shrunk,
with a sense of solemnity, to being oneself, a wedge shaped core of darkness,
something invisible to others.

Although she continued to knit, and sat upright, it was thus that she felt herself; and this self having shed its attachments was free for the strangest adventures.
When life sank down for a moment, the range of experience seemed limitless...
Beneath it is all dark, it is all spreading, it is unfathomably deep; but now and again we rise to the surface and that is what you see us by.

Her horizon seemed to her limitless."

I am preparing to leave India for Nepal. Next Wednesday sees me moving on.

Never
Ending
Peace
And
Love (apparently)

Here I come.

Nervous
Excited
Packing
Anxious
Looking forward to moving on

I already know the internet connection is going to be terrible,
so, bear with me my friends, I will be back.

The rising to the surface, brief and illusory, that could be ourselves and our blogging posts. How ahead of her time she was. Good luck on your onward travels!

Lou, I love how you're photographs keeps on re-inventing the same places and things over and over again, but with a different viewpoint, mood and style. It's really brilliant and a real talent! I love watching and reading, and Mysore Palace looks almost better in the distance from street level! Can't wait for pictures from Nepal!

Wonderful photos - your pictures are always so atmospheric and you're good at distilling the essence of a place, a thing or a moment.
Rather like that Virginia Woolf quote really.
But don't you find that, after the smallness and turning in onto yourself, comes a re-awakening and opening up to the world again? Perhaps that is what will happen as you leave for Nepal...
I wish you a safe trip and happy arrival. Hopefully we'll hear from you from time to time - otherwise, be happy and keep well!
